The GRE consists of an Analytical Writing section that contains one essay question, two Verbal sections that contain 12 and 15 multiple-choice questions, and two Quantitative sections that contain 12 and 15 multiple-choice questions.

Conducted by Pearson PLC Group, the PTE Exam Fee has also been updated from 14,300 to 14,700 including taxes. In short, candidates would be required to pay  INR 15,900 (inclusive of GST) for booking their PTE test.

The two-hour-long (W.E.F. – 15th November 2022) computer-based test focuses on day-to-day English and tests a student on his/her ability to effectively understand the language as is spoken daily. The multi-level grading system of the PTE exam ensures a better understanding of the student’s proficiency in the English language.

PTE Exam Eligibility Criteria

Pearson PLC Group, the administrative institution of the Pearson PTE Academic Exam does not specify a PTE exam eligibility criteria for candidates looking to appear for the PTE Academic Exam.

However, as a general rule aspirants appearing for the PTE Academic exam should be at least 16 years of age at the time of appearing for the PTE Academic test. Aspirants who are below 18 years of age need to get a parental consent form signed to take the PTE Academic test, as part of the PTE exam eligibility 2024.

Different Formats of the PTE Exam

The Pearson Test of English has two formats, PTE General and PTE Academic. PTE General is designed to reward positive achievement in English language learning. The tests consist of two parts: a written paper and an interview. PTE General is not used as an English proficiency test.

The PTE Academic test is the proficiency test undertaken to work or study abroad. Similar to TOEFL and IELTS, the PTE Academic exam is accepted by a number of institutions in countries like the United States of America, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and Canada among others. The PTE exam format is also the same for all institutions around the world.

Minimum PTE Score that Top Universities Requires

Meeting the English language proficiency requirements is an important criteria for students from countries where English is not the main language of communication and instruction. Aspirants from India and other countries, where English is not the first language, have to qualify for these tests in order to pursue their studies in an educational institute in an English speaking country.
IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE are the three widely accepted standardized tests that measure efficiency in the English language of a non-English speaker.

Since all these tests are proficiency tests, there is no passing or failing mark in these tests. Aspirants need to meet the specific requirements of the field of study, the University/ institution of study as well as any Visa requirements that may arise due to the application to that country. A good score will therefore be a score that meets the specific requirements of an individual student for his/her field of study, University, and country of choice.

Preparing For PTE Academic

The PTE exam requires a minimum age of 16 years. The PTE exam is applicable to anybody over the age of 16, regardless of nationality or background. Pearson PLC group, the organization that administers the exam, has set no age limit or eligibility criteria, though it is preferable that the candidate be at least 16 years of age.

PTE is a language proficiency test taken by students who want to study in an English-speaking country and obtain global experience. The majority of colleges, universities, and educational institutions in the major English-speaking countries only educate in English. As a result, in order to pursue their further education successfully, candidates should have a basic comprehension of the language. Candidates are evaluated on four factors, according to the PTE Exam Pattern: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.

There are two methods for preparing for PTE: self-study and coaching classes. Which path you take is determined on your level of language proficiency and comfort. You do not need to attend coaching classes if you are already fluent in English; you can prepare for the exam on your own. You only need to determine when you should begin preparing for PTE.

You can also choose to enroll in PTE preparation classes. Since PTE is a relatively newer exam compared to IELTS or TOEFL, access to free online material may be limited. This is where coaching classes can work for you. Additionally, it should be understood that the pattern and structure of the exam is very different from your regular school or college English exams, and understanding this will make a great deal of difference in the final score outcome.
