Description

Associate Degrees

These are 2-year programs that are equivalent to the first two years of a Bachelor’s degree and are more job-oriented which are enough for kick-starting a career

Bachelor’s Degrees

4-year undergraduate courses in the USA that offer core courses along with majors, minors, and electives and are a rock-solid foundation for a full-fledged career

Master’s Degrees (Two types: Academic and Professional)

Academic– 2-year programs which offer specialisations in STEM, humanities, and arts. Students can lay a firm grounding and also move on to doctoral studies in their respective disciplines.

Professional – The professional master’s degree programs span from 1 to 3 years depending on the discipline and help students to proceed to a particular profession.

MBA Degrees

Around 2 years’ MBA programs in the USA for those interested in attaining a top leadership position or launching their own company. Some business schools offer a 1-year MBA program (Accelerated MBA) as well

Doctoral studies/PhD

Students are required to carry out their studies under the guidance of a faculty advisor and earn a Ph.D. after successful completion of the dissertation. Usually, a Ph.D. in the USA takes about 5 to 8 years to complete

Requirements to Study in USA

  • Completed application form proof of secondary school completion (usually 12 years of schooling)
  • Certification of English language proficiency (usually a score from the TOEFL- Test of English as a Foreign Language)
  • Evidence of financial support

Accommodation

Most US universities offer on-campus residence to international students, which is a very affordable option. However, you need to apply for it well ahead in time to secure a place for yourself.  You will also have an option of going for off-campus accommodation, in which you can share an apartment with other students from India or opt for a homestay with a local family.

However, if you opt to rent an apartment, you will have to add utility bills like internet, electricity, water usage and also tenant’s insurance onto your budget. The accommodation cost in the US varies by region and lies somewhere between $6,000 and $14,000 a year*.

Living Expenses & Transportation

Living abroad as a student, it is wise to keep track of even the most basic expenditures so that you prevent yourself from overspending. Other expenses and living costs for a single student in the US are between $10,000-$25,000 per academic year*, depending on the city they choose to live. Consider the following common yearly expenses (which may vary from region to region) when creating your budget:
